Where were you born?

I was born and raised in Kahului, Maui. I have also lived in Wailuku for a few years.

What do you like to do on your free time? Hobbies?

On my free time you will either find me serving Jesus in children’s ministry at Kingʻs Cathedral or driving around, taking pictures. I enjoy seeing the joy that is in every child, it is amazing knowing that you can make a positive impact in a childʻs life. A few of my hobbies include hiking and hanging out with friends at the beach.

Do you plan to watch the Disney princess movie, Moana?

Definite YES! It looks like a cool movie!

What’s one of your favorite places to eat on Maui?

Wow! This is such a deep and difficult question to answer. I’m going to name 3 of my favorite spots. For sit in dining I would go to Kula Lodge, it has a killer view and ono food. For some ono local food, I really like this new place called Tin Roof, itʻs walking distance from our store. Lastly, for food trucks I like going to a place called Hana Ho Shave Ice which is owned by a good friend of mines.

When did you start working at Mr. Pineapple? Position?

I was looking for a job to keep me busy this past summer and was blessed with the opportunity to work at Mr. Pineapple. I started working at Mr. Pineapple at the end of May 2016 as a sales associate. I am currently working/ interning from my school, Northwest University, as an online marketer with Kelly.

A favorite memory working at Mr. Pineapple?

I was working the day before my birthday and it was a pack day, in which we prepare our orders to be shipped out. It was around our lunch break and I had been drinking a lot of water for some odd reason that day. Our manager, Jenny, went out of the store leaving me there for a few minutes.

Once she came back I asked to use the restroom. She was very hesitant to answer my question and seemed afraid as she blocked me from exiting the store.

THEN, out of the blue, Kelly and Amanda walked in with a cake and card singing happy birthday to my great surprise. I chuckled, thanked the three of them, and ran over the restroom not because I had the urge to go, but more so because I wanted to taste the cake.

Long story short, I have an amazing boss and amazing co-workers.

Where were you born?

I was born in Orange California and grew up in So Cal until I was 21; and then I moved to Lake Havasu City Arizona. I lived there for about 7 years before moving to the islands.

When did you move to Maui? Why?

I moved to Maui in June of 2014. I received a calling to move to Maui since October 2012 and although the message was loud and clear for me to move, I did not start making arrangements until October 2013. It was a process to move but well worth it. The island has an energy, a vibration that isn’t like any other place I have ever experienced. For me, coming to the islands was about growth and developing my community of friends and family. There is a love, a kind of Ohana that exists here that I feel so grateful and blessed to be a part of.

What do you like to do on your free time? Hobbies?

Most of my free time is used to grow and expand my jewelry business. The same time I had a calling to move out here, I also received a calling to start making jewelry. I have always been an artist one way or another my entire life, however this is the first time I have ever sold my art and developed it into a business. I love making jewelry for conscious living; made out of natural gemstones, crystals, and minerals. Aside from my jewelry I love the water. Snorkeling and free diving are among my favorite things to do. The crisp, clear blue water of Maui is very healing and soothing to the soul.

Do you plan to watch the Disney princess movie, Moana?

Yes! Of course. I’m excited to see the new film.

Whatʻs one of your favorite places to eat on Maui?

I have to give you my top three…. I love Grandma’s House in the heart of Upcountry. They have the best baked sweets and treats plus an incredible view and home style meals. 808 Grinds on the West side have the best Pancakes and Moco plates around. They have a Kalua Pork Moco plate and chocolate chip pancakes with homemade vanilla sauce that is to die for! My last place would be Mediterranean Grill food truck in Haiku. They have the best vegetarian and vegan dishes and authentic Mediterranean food around. Set in the heart of Haiku and in the center of the Haiku Marketplace, The Mediterranean Grill has the best ambiance with outside seating and jungle views.

When did you start working at Mr. Pineapple? A favorite memory working at Mr. Pineapple?

I was brought onto the Mr. Pineapple team in May of 2016. My position is Marketing Manager and Mr. Pineapple Representative.

My favorite memory at Mr. Pineapple is when I was introduced to the Organic White Pineapple that’s only in season for 2-8weeks. It was magic seeing this beautiful fruit and trying it for the first time. I also loved going to the Pineapple farm with my boss Kelly. To see the rows of pineapple all lined up growing on stalks and seeing the love it takes to grow a single pineapple and it made me fall in love with the fruit in a whole new way. The Pineapple farm is majestic and full of wonder. For me, pineapple is the fruit of the Gods.

I was born in Kahului, Maui. I grew up here on the island. I have lived in Kihei, Upcountry, Wailuku, and Kahului! I have yet to have a day where I am not amazed by the beauty freely offered to me living here on Maui!

What do you like to do on your free time? Hobbies?

I love to volunteer and help a Youth Group called Relentless Youth Ministry. It is for high school students ages 14 yrs old -18 yrs old. I love talking, mentoring, praying with, and providing a safe place for young people to be throughout the week. I like to dance!  I also enjoy going to the beach and hiking. My favorite Hike is the Bamboo Forest hike on the way to Hana!

Do you plan to watch the Disney princess movie, Moana?

I am usually a big Fan of Disney Movies! With that said, yes, I am eager to see how they portray the Hawaiian Islands and culture!

What’s one of your favorite places to eat on Maui?

For a snack, I often run into a 7-11 store and grab a quick Spam Musubi (paired with a iced cold green tea). This is great while on the run! For dine in restaurants, I enjoy Da Kitchen. They have generous portions, and I like their Teriyaki Chicken Plate. Another Great Place to eat is at Cafeʻ Oʻlei at the Dunes Golf Course. I enjoy their Maui French Onion soup, calamari, and Daily Fish Plate - lunch Special. For dessert, I would have to say Kimo’s restaurant on Front Street. They have the incredible Hula Pie! It is too delicious! Just talking about these yummy treats is making me hungry!

When did you start working at Mr. Pineapple? Position?

I starting working at Mr. Pineapple in February of 2014. I came on staff as a store sales associate! In the past few years, I have since been promoted to Store Manager. It has been a fun adventure with the Mr. Pineapple team. We are constantly learning, laughing, and growing together! It has been a blessed 2 year season for me working here at Mr. Pineapple!

A favorite memory working at Mr. Pineapple?

My favorite memory would have to be when the Mr. Pineapple team went on a whale watch together. We all went on a boat named the Aliʻi Nui and it was nothing shy of incredible! The boat crew was so pleasant and attentive to us as their guest. They really make you feel like royalty. There was so much delicious food, local juices, and flavored drinks. Honestly, I think we were eating the whole time! The view of the island of Maui from the boat was, of course, indescribable. Then once out at sea, the Humpback whales were so close to the boat! It was unreal, and words cant explain the feeling. Those large magnificent creatures are so graceful yet have so much power. I remember laughing so much that my stomach hurt. As the whales jumped out of the water we were screaming and smiling so much that my cheeks were hurting as I left the dock that day! It is a great feeling to be able to work with beautiful people that are not only professional in the work place but also great company and the best of friends for a team bonding experience like that! That day is definitely a favorite memory for me!

Where were you born?

I was born and raised in Idaho. I grew up farming and ranching in southern Idaho until I graduated high school.

When did you move to Maui? What was the main reason for moving?

My wife and I just finished our undergraduate degrees in 2006 together at the University of Texas at El Paso. We wanted to live closer to family as we begin to raise a family of our own. Idaho was ruled out quickly since my wife was born and raised on Maui.

What do you like to do on your free time? Hobbies?

I like to go to the beach, hike, read, exercise and go to a good movie every once in awhile. I also spend time volunteering at church learning/mentoring others in business, leadership, finance and marriage. These are areas I wish to remain strong in my life.

Do you plan to watch the Disney princess movie, Moana?

No, I am not a big fan of Hawaiian movies that portray a strong sense of the Hawaiian Gods and mythology. I respect the Hawaiian culture and beliefs but I believe in one God, the Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. I continue to build businesses built on biblical principles from the bible and it was served me well throughout life.

Whatʻs one of your favorite places to eat on Maui?

This one is hard because I love to eat so I will share with you some of my favorite dishes at a few of my favorite restaurants. I love the Dry Saimin (Dry’min) at Sam Satos which is a local favorite in Wailuku. I love the Maui French Onion Soup at the Cafe O’lei Maui Dunes Golf Course. I also enjoy the prime rib at the Makawao Steak House.

When did you start working at Mr. Pineapple? A favorite memory working at Mr. Pineapple?

I started working at Mr. Pineapple in 2006 as a manager for the previous owner. I learned quickly that Mr. Pineapple was a gem in the rough and had great potential. During the next several years, Mr. Pineapple would barely hang on as the fragile agriculture industry provided major challenges. In 2013, the business was due to close down and that was when I took over ownership.

My favorite memory at Mr. Pineapple has to be when we received a phone call earlier this year in 2016 from the Small Business Association stating we were selected to be the Maui County Exporter of the Year. I was not only in shock but just humbled to be considered. We had the opportunity to take our team and have a weekend getaway to Oahu to enjoy the awards banquet, meet the governor, senators supporting small business and many other business owners. The best part of that weekend was having my team and family next to me for an incredible part of Mr. Pineapple history in the making.

"Thanks for reading! We hope to see you in Maui soon!"
